GENERAL INFORMATION

Photo-offset lithography is not considered an original printing process. Photo-offset printing is used to make multiple copies of images that look like the original art. Artists often try to pass this work off as "original prints" by signing copies of his, or her copied work which they did not produce themselves. The only thing original about the product is that it is a real photo-offset and the signature on the face of the product is the artist's real hand writing. But you haven't bought any original art work by the artist when you by a photo-offset. You've purchased a print reproduction with the real artist's signature, or hand writing on it.

The artist, or illustrator are often times very good business people who do from good to excellent art work. The best ones are able to live very well from their sell of reproductions, but they live a very hard life, because they are constantly on the road traveling to shows. As business people they are top con-artists. They know how to mis-educate their clients to suite their own immediate economic needs. Quite often there original work is very good, but in order to save themselves from having to under sell their originals, they produce copies which they sell at what ever the traffic will bear. Often their prices are way out of line allowing the artist to make a killing off of what ever he, or she is able to sell. They price high, because some shows don't bare fruit. If they have a bad show, they make up for it at a good show, price wise.

In the beginning the public did not want to spend much money on art. At that time they had the upper hand and artist had to sell their original works for what ever the public was willing to pay for it, but eventually artists got the upper hand by producing reproductions of their original works and promoting reproductions as original works of art. The prices in the beginning were cheaper than the prices that the client had original paid for real art. But little by little prices on reproductions went up as artist learned how control their clients.

The public buying the signed reproductions were anxious to buy something that had a personalized touch to it and at the same time had either trade up, or resale value. Even this worked, because the market the client belong to was growing and it was a well guarded; protected market by the artists. When clients went to shows they only saw a public that had been mis-educated like themselves and all of the artists in the show were playing the same con-games.

Some of these clients would be be much better off spending just a little more money and buying a quality original art one tenth the size of that large signed reproduction they purchase. The resale value of a quality original would be much greater as well.

They could also ask artists not to sign prints and ask for a volume price on the reproductions. Most artists sign their original works, so that the signature on the original would show up in the reproduction any way. There is nothing wrong with purchasing art reproductions.

GENERAL INFORMATION

At Vai Print And Publications we have guarded and protected market as well. In that respect we are no different than that other artist market. We also are business  people.

The difference lies in the education process. We believe that if you are knowledgeable about our products you will buy reproductions in larger volume, or pay very high prices for a single original if you understand the market value of your purchase.

Art reproductions advertise our original work and its quality. We would rather sell you advertisement cheap enough so that you would fill free to give some reproductions to relative and friends. What you do for us widens our market possibilities without charging you an arm and a leg to do so. We will even sign the print reproductions for you. We don't care what you do with them. Resale the prints if you like.
